Offshore employers in Dubai, Norway, the North Sea and the UK increasingly ask for a NEBOSH IGC certificate as the minimum for HSE roles. With only a national qualification you often won't even pass the first screening — with NEBOSH an international market literally opens up for you.
NEBOSH IGC is usually the baseline, not the full ticket: most operators also expect offshore survival training, a valid medical and relevant site experience. Across offshore HSE contracting, day rates commonly sit in the €500–€1,500 band. Work a few months a year offshore and an annual income above €100,000 as an HSE contractor is realistic — provided you have the right certifications and are willing to work abroad (temporarily).

In Dubai and the wider Middle East, NEBOSH IGC and offshore experience are often hard requirements for HSE roles. The combination of large projects, tax-free salaries and extra benefits (housing, flights) makes this one of the most attractive regions for ambitious HSE professionals.
In Norway and on the North Sea you'll find a mix of traditional oil & gas and modern offshore wind. With NEBOSH IGC you increase your chances of well-paid HSE roles on platforms and vessels.
The UK has historically been one of the most important offshore markets in the world. Many companies already work to NEBOSH standards. With an IGC certificate you have a clear advantage when applying.
In Rotterdam, Antwerp and other European ports, rates are generally lower than on international offshore projects, but it's an excellent place to build experience after your NEBOSH course.

In Dubai and the Middle East, rates frequently land around €1,000–€1,500/day, often with tax-free packages and extras such as housing and flights — but competition and visa/logistics requirements can be different.
Rarely on day one. NEBOSH IGC gets you through many first screenings, but operators still expect offshore survival training, a medical and usually some relevant experience. Without those extras you more often start in junior/medior HSE roles or onshore port and terminal work, then progress offshore once certificates and experience are in place.
