Context
Why VCA in English?
Many industrial employers in Rotterdam and Rijnmond work with multilingual teams. Where English is the shared working language, English VCA preparation helps people follow safety terminology, risks and responsibilities clearly — without everyone needing Dutch first.
Relevant in terminals, logistics, maintenance, technical contracting, construction, petrochemical services, offshore-related contractors and industrial projects around the port. Check where needed whether your worksite or client accepts English: that can differ by site or client.

VOL-VCA in English is intended for English-speaking operational supervisors, team leaders and contractors with supervisory responsibility. Whether VOL-VCA is required depends on the role and client requirements — not automatically on self-employed status.

English VCA training for port and industry in Rotterdam
In Rotterdam, Rijnmond and sites around Botlek, Europoort and Maasvlakte, international crews work alongside Dutch teams. Is an English VCA certificate the same certificate?
Yes. After a successful recognised exam you receive the official B-VCA or VOL-VCA certificate via the recognised exam route. The language of preparation does not change the certificate type — it remains the same personal VCA diploma.
How long is a VCA certificate valid?
After a successful recognised exam, a B-VCA or VOL-VCA certificate is valid for ten years.
When do the first English VCA courses start in Rotterdam?
English groups are not available yet. The planned classroom dates, 11 December 2026 and 22 January 2027, are taught in Dutch. Each date is one full course day at €345 incl. 21% VAT.
