Who is the NEBOSH IGC for?

What you'll learn: the two units
The NEBOSH IGC consists of two units:
IG1 — Management of Health and Safety
The theoretical foundation: safety management systems, international standards (based on ILO frameworks), risk assessment methodology, safety culture, and measuring and improving performance. IG2 — Risk Assessment
The practical component: you carry out a full risk assessment of a real workplace. You identify hazards — from machinery safety and hazardous substances to ergonomics and fire — evaluate the risks and propose control measures. IG2 is a practical assignment, not an exam.
How long does it take?
The official study load is roughly 110 to 130 hours. How you spread those hours depends on the study format:
- Classroom: typically an intensive programme of 10 to 12 training days, plus self-study
- Online / self-paced: entirely at your own pace; most learners complete the course in 3 to 6 months alongside a full-time job
What does the NEBOSH IGC cost?
Costs vary widely by format and provider. Classroom programmes in Western Europe typically run €2,000 to €3,500 including exams.
